XL Ink [1]: Sleepless

XL Ink is a series of campus musings from XLRI, Jamshedpur.

Circled around the grey circular table, seated on shaky plastic chairs were a group of sleep-deprived guys oblivious to the strong aroma-heavy air of the room. Outside of the smoky room, the dark night excused itself paving the way for dawn.

At least one of them noticed through the door, the aberration of early morning light. And it had been ages since morning sunlight had been a reality in each of their lives, an elusive dream it had remained. Witnessing the rising sun was a concept as absurd to each of them as balanced gender ratio is in engineering campuses, as absurd as victory is for Asian cricket teams in bouncing tracks, as absurd as the Leftists ruling India and definitely as absurd as MBA students having eight hours of sleep a day.

Anyway none bothered about such mundane stuff. What mattered was the task at hand of tearing away at the hottest and tastiest parathas in town. Why not, of course! After all how often do starving Himalayan wolves preying on sheep take notice of the Giant Himalayan Lily that blooms once in five years.

Focussing on the here and now. That is what keeps them all sane and ticking, even in the absurdest of times.
